2007 Detroit Auto Show Unveiling Several Hybrid
Cars
At the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit,
Michigan, several manufacturers are unveiling their hybrid concept
cars for the first time. The most notable of these hybrid concept
cars include the Ford
Airstream, Toyota
FT-HS and Chevy
Volt.
The Ford Airstream combines the outward
design of two travel icons, Ford Motor Company and Airstream
RVs into one unmistakable package. The Ford Airstream
is also a plug-in hybrid electric hydrogen fuel cell vehicle,
the ultimate futuristic green machine.
The Toyota FT-HS is a hybrid sports concept car integrating
ecology and muscle. The Toyota FT-HS has a V6, 3.5L-engine
with 400 hp and 0 - 60 mph acceleration is approximately
4 seconds.

The General Motors Volt is what GM executives have been hinting
at for months as the company's first attempt at a plug-in hybrid
vehicle. GM Vice Chairman Robert Lutz has stated before that
he doesn't expect to have a plug-in hybrid in the showrooms
until 2009, so the GM Volt is the first step forward towards
this timeline.
