Nissan Green Program 2010 Announced, Features
Hybrids
Nissan has just announced its "Nissan Green Program 2010",
which will feature a line of cars that are environmentally-friendly,
including hybrid vehicles, within the next 3 years.
The Japanese automaker has kicked off
this announcement by debuting its Nissan
Altima Hybrid at both the Orange County Auto
Show and Greater Los Angeles Auto Show in Southern California.
The hybrid vehicle will be sold beginning April 2007.
The Altima Hybrid, however, contains technology developed
by Toyota. As part of the Nissan Green Program 2010,
Nissan will develop its own hybrid technology in-house
to help meet the escalating demand for hybrid vehicles
in North America.

By rolling out its new green line of vehicles, Nissan hopes
to portray itself as a responsible corporate citizen eager to
develop environmentally-friendly vehicles that will reduce dependence
upon foreign oil. Besides the hybrid vehicles, Nissan also plans
to roll out cleaner burning gasoline engines, bioethanol vehicles
for the Brazil market and even a line of production hydrogen
fuel cell vehicles as well.
