Resources
- Electric Vehicles
After you've completed perusing our hybrid vehicle website,
take some time to check out some of the quality electric vehicle
sites that we've link included on this page. Many of the fine
resource sites listed here have additional information not included
on our website and will enhance your education about electric
vehicles.
Electric
Auto Association - is a source of information for
the membership, other organizations and the public, on the current
state of electric vehicle technology worldwide. Encourages experimentation
in the building of electric vehicles, particularly to improve
energy and resource efficiency, reduce emissions and improve
vehicle safety.
Electric
Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) - dedicated
to advancing electric drive as a core technology on the
road to sustainable mobility. As an advocate for the adoption
of electric drive technologies, EDTA serves as the unified
voice for the industry and is the primary source of information
and education related to electric drive. Our membership
includes a diverse representation of vehicle and equipment
manufacturers, energy providers, component suppliers and
end users.
FuelEconomy.gov
Tax Breaks - offers information on tax breaks
and incentives for owners of electric vehicles.
DoE
Electric Vehicles - gives an overview of the
benefits and costs associated with owning electric vehicles.
EPA
Electric Vehicles - Overview in PDF format of electric
vehicles and advanced battery research that is currently being
conducted.
EV
World - commenced publication officially on January
1, 1998. Their objective is to provide a human face to the
topic of sustainable transportation with a focus on the
people and policy, as well as technology.
The FreedomCAR and Vehicle Technologies (FCVT) Program
is developing more energy efficient and environmentally
friendly highway transportation technologies that will enable
America to use less petroleum. The long-term aim is to develop
"leap frog" technologies that will provide Americans
with greater freedom of mobility and energy security, while
lowering costs and reducing impacts on the environment.
The goal of the FreedomCAR and Fuel Partnership is fundamental
and dramatic the development of emission- and petroleum-free
cars and light trucks. The Partnership focuses on the high-risk
research needed to develop the necessary technologies, such
as fuel cells and advanced hybrid propulsion systems, to
provide a full range of affordable cars and light trucks
that are free of foreign oil and harmful emissions
and that do not sacrifice freedom of mobility and freedom
of vehicle choice.
To address the research and development needs of commercial
vehicles, the goal of the 21st Century Truck Partnership
is for our nation's trucks and buses to safely and cost-effectively
move larger volumes of freight and greater numbers of passengers
while emitting little or no pollution, with dramatic reduction
in dependence on imported oil.
Much of the technology developed for the current hybrid
vehicles has been derived from the technology developed
for all electric vehicles. Advanced battery technology in
particular has its roots in the electric vehicle (EV) laboratories
and as such the HEV field has much to thank the EV for,
so many thanks EV'ers everywhere. With the advent of the
hybrid-electric market and the future hydrogen fuel cell
vehicles to come it will be interesting to see how the EV
field evolves or if it even survives. Only time will tell
how the landscape of alternative fuel vehicles shape our
highways and roadways of the future.
